In 2025, the Township of Langley issued building permits for 1,705 new multi-family homes, 212 single-family homes and 195 secondary suites. That is a total of 2,121 new homes. This is slightly lower than 2024.

The 2025 total is inline with the Township’s five-year average of 2,248 homes per year, but higher than the ten-year average of 2,062. It's also the 3rd year ever for new apartments.

Seeing fewer housing starts and slightly slower growth is part of the plan. Not to stop growth, or stop housing, but to manage it better than in the past.

This approach also helps our communities prepare for uncertainty ahead. Provincial housing mandates require the Township of pre-approve more than 20,000 additional homes, on top of the thousands already approved in principle.

Slower growth rates gives the Township time to finish major infrastructure projects already underway and planned. This includes completing 208th and 202nd Streets. It gives us time to catch up on major and local roads, needed community facilities and additional green spaces, and especially schools. The goal is a better balance to our community's growth.
